Puerto Rican rap sensation Daddy Yankee makes his debut this week on the Take 40 singles chart at number 25 with his groove-heavy, hip-hop ditty 'Gasolina'.
In his home of Puerto Rico, Daddy Yankee has been a star for almost 15 years, in part for pioneering the musical style of Reggaeton which saw Daddy Yankee blend the cool sounds of reggae and salsa with hip-hop rhymes and beats. It wasn't until last year though, that America really sat up and took notice of Daddy Yankee, presenting him with a swag of Latin music awards and seeing him rap alongside the likes of Diddy and Usher.
The Latino rap sensation, whose real name is the very non-street sounding Raymond Ayala, has been busy of late filming his debut flick titled 'Straight From The Barrio' which is, you guessed it, a rag-to-riches tale of a rap-star's rise to fame.
Move over Fiddy there's a new kid on the block!
