Westlife's Search for a Super-Star

Boy-band Westlife will run their own version of TV's 'Idol' to search for an unknown female to perform on their next album.

The boys will introduce a hotline number next week where wannabes can ring and leave their details, as well as sing a song as their audition. The group will then listen to each audition and shortlist their favourites, who will then get to audition for the band towards the end of August.

Simon Cowell (of American Idol fame) has said of the search: "This is the ultimate search for a star. The winner gets to sing with Westlife on national television. It may be the launchpad for a successful career."
