Jessica Simpson is proud she beat out Britney Spears for a role in the upcoming big-screen remake of "The Dukes Of Hazzard", but denies it's consolation for missing out on the Mickey Mouse Club as a kid - because she's glad she didn't get in.
Jess makes her big-screen debut in the upcoming remake of "The Dukes OF Hazzard", but as a child was kept from a place in the Mickey Mouse Club by Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. But Jess says she's better off for not having made it.
"I'm glad I didn't get the Mickey Mouse Club. I got to be a normal kid. It makes me more proud to have gone through failure and then have success."
But not everyone is happy about Jess' success. Actress Reese Witherspoon has slammed her behaviour in the hit show "Newlyweds" - saying Jess should be ashamed for proudly celebrating her ignorance.
"Creating a cultural icon out of someone who goes, 'I'm stupid, isn't it cute?' makes me want to throw daggers," Reese fumed. "I want to say to them, 'My Grandma did not fight for what she fought for, just so you can start telling women it's fun to be stupid.'"
