When Dave Grohl Almost Quit

Foo Fighters' front man Dave Grohl has said that he almost quit music after the death of his friend and former band mate Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain.

Grohl, who originally played drums for Nirvana before the band ended, revealed in a recent interview that he was ready to pack it in.

"When Nirvana was finished I didn't really know what to do. Our lives and our world were turned upside down," Grohl said. "It's hard to imagine playing music after something like that. It was hard for me. I had always written and recorded songs by myself. I wouldn't really play them for anyone."

"... I spent a lot of time just traveling around and thinking, and then I thought, I know what I'll do, I'll book 6 days in the studio... and record my favourite twelve or thirteen songs I've ever written," Dave continued. "I never thought I'd still be here doing this."

The Foo Fighters release their sixth album 'Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace' this month.
