Ladies Weak At The Knees As John Mayer Wows Fans Live At The Chapel!

05 November 2009

John Mayer wowed the crowd at last night's Kia Soul Live At The Chapel concert in Sydney.

The ladies swooned and the guys cheered as Mayer strummed his soulful tunes to the packed crowd.

Plenty of local stars were in attendance for the intimate gig including Idol finalists Hayley, Stan and James; INXS star Kirk Pengilly, champion surfer Layne Beachley; TV presenter Erika Heynatz and Home and Away cast members Jodi Gordon, Rebecca Breeds and Axle Whitehead.

During the 9 song set - in which John played several different fancy guitars - the ultimate crowd favourite was 'Waiting On The World To Change' and of course fans loved every minute of the few older songs John performed like 'Vultures' and 'Gravity'.

If crowd reaction is anything to go by, his brand new single 'Who Says' promises to be another hit for John, whose fourth studio album 'Battle Studies' hits stores later this month.

John even thanked his Twitter followers throughout the show for keeping him up to date with Australian news and begging him to do more shows here.

Fans were mesmerized by John's hands on the guitar, and left gagging for more of his amazing guitar work at the end of the show.

But don't take it from us - here's some feedback we had from a fan!

"I think the crowd appreciated the new sounds he was bringing out with his new single 'Who Says' captured so well in the small venue. But definite highlights were hearing some of his previous hits that we could join in with.

The crowd loved it when we heard the intro of 'Waiting On The World To Change' - the version of this song in a live atmosphere, with him just jamming it out with his band got the crowd going and made it such a different song in comparison to what you hear on the radio."

If you weren't lucky enough to see this event in person, we'll have some video footage here on take40.com shortly, or you can catch it broadcast on the Seven Network at 11am, Sunday November 29!
