Kisschasy Tour Diary

Final Entry... The Tour is Over

06-06-08

Well, the fat lady has sung! Thats it, tour is over. Im home in my own office again thinking about what I should wear to my golf competition tomorrow morning. What a tour, we had an absolute amazing time, we had a pretty hectic and tiring final 3 days. Adelaide was pretty sweet, we played at the Thebarton theatre, and may I say, what a venue. Its a beautiful old theatre, and aesthetically is just really cool. We got home from that show at around 2am, and had to be up again at 5 to fly to Perth. With 2 shows in 1 day in Perth it was quiet a challenge to keep strong, but we managed with a lot of help from the amazing audience. With 3 hours of flight delays, fog, road works and temperature I thought only existed in the middle of July, getting home was something of an epic battle itself. But we did it, and I slept deeper and longer than I ever think I have. The tour couldnt have been as successful without the help of everyone in tow, The Donnas and The Getaway Plan, our crew, their crew and all the 1000s of people that came to check out the shows. Thanks for this cool opportunity to give the public a sneak peek into life in a touring band! Muchos Lovos to all!! Signing out, Joel, on behalf of Kisschasy

Third Entry - Melbourne

02-06-08

So tonight is the night of the hometown (sorta) show. Were playing at Frankston which is about half an hour from our homes, and our guest list reflects this; I never knew I had so many cousins, aunties and 'old school mates'. But it should be a really fun show, we haven't played at home for quite a while. The last few days have actually been great, we had the Under 18's show at the Corner Hotel in Melbourne on Wednesday and it was amazing, I've never seen a group of people have so much fun and have so little respect for their health in the name of good fun. They were singing so loud, and jumping so much it actually hurt me. Last night was the Melbourne O18's show, also amazing, at the Palace in which I grew up watching bands I idolised, so to be on that stage for our own show was pretty surreal. We also had a great night out celebrating Bret from The Donna's birthday, so we're all a little 'fragile' again today. (see attached photo) But the tour is quickly entering that final but brutal stretch, early flights, late nights but a whole lot of rock and roll and fun!!! Till then xoxo Joel

Second Entry - Brisbane & Sydney

26-05-08

So it hasnt been long since the last entry, but we have played another show or 2, and got another one tonight. Tonight will be the second show in Bris-Vegas. Sold out, no big deal! Weve had a little bit on. Yesterday we had the absolute honour and privilege of visiting the Mater Hospital children's wards for the Starlight Foundation. We hung out with some of the most inspiring and all round cool kids for a couple of hours. And may I say it was an absolute pleasure. We finally managed to get out after the show last night, had a rad night letting our hair down with the other bands. But it did wipe out my day today, I had grand plans of getting in a taxi and playing golf this morning. Alas, I slept right through, so I guess we should have done more to tell you guys about. Next time I promise!!! Love Joel and the fellas I decided to add another day's goings on to this entry, as I was too lazy to send this when I was supposed to. But last night was the pinnacle of our career to date. We played to a sold out Enmore Theatre in Sydney. 2500 people, it was rad. Everyone was so excited, us included and we had a great show. It was also the night we were awarded with our gold records for hymns and gold records for the single opinions wont keep you warm at night so needless to say it was quite the celebration to follow. So now I'm in another underground band room, writing to you from Penrith. So till the next time I feel like doing some writing, Adios! Joel and the fellas (again)

First Entry - Sunshine Coast

22-05-08

21-05-08 So the tour begun yesterday, for Darren, Sean and myself at around 10am with an extremely rushed drive to the airport as, per usual, Darren was running around 20 mins late. To add to that pressure, my 1995 magna was heaving and pulling the whole way, threatening to pass out on us mid-way, but luckily she pushed through. After a 2-hour flight surrounded by infants and senior citizens, we finally arrived to the sunny Gold Coast. Straight to the venue from the airport, and proceeded to hang-out from roughly 8 hours until show time. We managed to eat 2 meals in this time, 1st was avocado sushi rolls, and was later followed by the best food ever created, Mexican! The show itself was pretty amazing, given that it was a Tuesday night, the crowd were amazing, and as rowdy and energetic as even the best Friday night ragers. The bands we so proudly have in tow, the Donnas and the getaway plan (fellow Melbournites) also all killed it. After the show we saw the truck all our gear is being moved in, it was effing massive (see photo) so all huffed about the good first show and the size of our vehicle we drove the hour back to Brisbane and slept quite deeply until we had to head out to the sunshine coast for some bowling, in which I killed everyone, and now Im sitting in our basementesque band room writing this to you! Looking forward to the next update!!! Love to all Joel and the lads
