Madonna has beaten Robbie Williams and the Scissor Sisters to receive the Novello award for 'International Hit of the Year' for her song 'Sorry'.
The 52nd Ivor Novello awards for songwriting were held in London last Thursday.
Among the other winners were British singer Amy Winehouse, The Arctic Monkeys, and Fatboy Slim (aka Norman Cook).
The Arctic Monkeys won 'Best Album' for their latest 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not', and singer Amy Winehouse picked up 'Best Contemporary Song' for 'Rehab'.
The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Peter Gabriel.
