Big Day Out Wins Big Award

10 August 2007

Big Day Out organisers have nabbed the Helpmann Award, naming them the 'Best Contemporary Music Festival' for 2007.

BDO producers Vivian Lees and Ken West were honoured to receive the award. "It's great to get this award as it's a big honour and a fantastic recognition to the hundreds of key staff and thousands of workers who make the show happen every year," Lees gushed.

The Helpmann Award recognises artistic achievement and excellence in various live music areas, such as contemporary, classical, comedy, dance etc.

Artists such as My Chemical Romance and Aussie band Jet were in the lineup at the 2007 event. Acts are yet to be confirmed for next year's Big Day Out, which is scheduled to run from January 18 to February 3.
