Darkness To Change Name

26 March 2007

UK rock band The Darkness have announced they will change their name after the sudden departure of front man Justin Hawkins.

The band are looking to start fresh, and are apparently 'days away' from confirming their new name.

Newly appointed front man Richie Edwards said on their website "I can absolutely confirm here and now that we will not be carrying on under the name The Darkness. We are literally days away from announcing our new name, when this is done we will be launching our new website and we sincerely hope that you guys will be paying it a visit."

"I can't wait for this album to be finished and for you all to hear it," he continued, "it'll knock your f**king socks off!"

Justin Hawkins left the band in October last year, and has auditioned a duet for the 2007 Eurovision song contest, saying that it is "everybody's dream to represent their country at the highest level... (Eurovision is) possibly the most important music event there is."

The contest will be held in Helsinki in May.
