British singer Leona Lewis has been left shocked and upset after a man punched her in the face at a book signing in London yesterday.

A rep for Leona said the 'Bleeding Love' singer had been signing autographs for about an hour and a half before the incident.

The man waited until Leona had signed his copy of her new autobiography 'Dreams' before reaching out and hitting her.

Onlookers were shocked, saying you could even hear the impact of the punch.

"He walked up there with the book, she signed it and as she looked up he just punched her," one man said.

"She was running out with her hand over her eye and I just saw a man on the floor."

"Suddenly the security all jumped on him and they were trying to pull him out and he was just laughing, he thought it was funny," the witness continued.

Leona's reps called the police immediately following the incident and Leona has since received medical attention and is feeling ok now.

Police from Scotland Yard have arrested the man for assault.
