Here's a blast from the past. The lead singer of Right Said Fred (for those who don't remember - they brought us 'I'm Too Sexy') has announced he is running for Mayor of London!
Richard Fairbrass' campaign focuses on the congestion in London. In a British newspaper Fairbrass said, "Current mayer Ken Livingstone has lost the plot. London has turned into a rich man's playground."
"I want to stand as an independent candidate with a manifesto for the real working people of London."
What of his campaign objectives? "The congestion charge needs a total overhaul - real Londoners should get a massive discount. Women driving their Chelsea tractors in from Surrey should have to pay a premium. And I would do everything in my power to work a way round the smoking ban. I think it is an absolute scandal."
Fairbrass' former band Right Said Fred were a one hit wonder in the early nineties with their comical hit 'I'm Too Sexy'. Apparently the song has been reworked and may be re-released soon! Oh dear!
