2009 has been a tremendously successful year for Kate. Curiouser was released October 2008, resulting in her first top 10 album. Can't Shake It, the first single from the album, was nominated for an APRA Award in the prestigious Song of the Year category alongside Dig, Lazarus, Dig (Nick Cave), Walking on a Dream (Empire of the Sun) and others.

In May 2009, Kate's single 'Caught in the Crowd' was awarded the Grand Prize in the highly respected International Songwriting Competition. The judges, including Tom Waits, Ray Davies (The Kinks), Robert Smith (The Cure), T-Pain and many other music icons, voted unanimously for Kate's song as the winner.
