Rihanna Speaks Out About Chris Brown Assault

04 November 2009

Rihanna has finally broken her silence and spoken out in interviews about the incident with then boyfriend Chris Brown back in February.

Rihanna spoke to TV host Diane Sawyer for an interview for Good Morning America, which will air tomorrow morning in the States.

In previews for the interview Rihanna admits Chris Brown was definitely her "first big love."

She also uses the interview to issue a warning to other women at risk of domestic violence.

"This happened to me... it can happen to anybody," Rihanna said.

Rihanna also gave in interview to Glamour magazine's 'Woman of the Year' issue, in which she says most of her upcoming new album was inspired by what happened to her.

"I've put everything I've wanted to say for the past eight months into my music," Rihanna explains. "(My new album) is super fearless -- which is exactly how I feel right now. I am in a really good place."

Rihanna told Glamour the media hype after her assault was overwhelming.

"I went to sleep as Rihanna and woke up as Britney Spears," she says. "That was the level or media chaos that happened the next day."

Rihanna said she hopes other women can learn from her ordeal.

"My story was broadcast all over the world for people to see, and they have followed every step of my recovery. The positive thing that has come out of my situation is that people can learn from that. I want to give as much insight as I can to young women, because I feel like I represent a voice that really isn't heard. Now I can help speak for those women."

Chris Brown has since been charged with assault and ordered to carry out hard labour community service with 5 years probation.
