Drapht is very proud to present to you the first taste of his forthcoming album. The lead single is called "Rapunzel", and it's a swinging piece of classic 60's psychedelic pop that's crossed with and cut up by the razor sharp wit and tongue of the Perth MC. "Rapunzel" gives an insight into the long awaited "The Life Of Riley" album which will finally surface early in 2011. To quote Drapht "The love hate relationship that is Rapunzel - a subject that I had that was extremely close to my heart, so naturally the song itself was one of the easiest to write, but one of the hardest to nail in the recording process. Has to be one of my favourites to date, has made me fall in love with her all over again!"
"The Life Of Riley" is the follow up to 2008's "Brothers Grimm" album which well and truly brought Drapht into the national spotlight. "Brothers Grimm" was one of the highest selling independent releases for the year, and spawned the massive single "Jimmy Recard" as well as radio favourites "Falling" and "Where Ya From". "Jimmy Recard" was the second most played song on JJJ in 2008, and also gave Drapht his first taste of the Hottest 100 (#10) and commercial airplay.
All that airplay led to widespread touring and festival slots, including a massive City Brothers co-headline tour with Downsyde, which sold out nationally, and appearances at Homebake, Pyramid, Southbound, Open Arms and MS Fest. Drapht is about to take Rapunzel on the road as well, taking in all capital cities on the Rapunzel tour as well as Full Noise Festival in Townsville.
It's just the start people, but it's a very good start indeed.
Rapunzel at Radio now. The Life Of Riley coming early in 2011.
