The Butterfly Effect emerged from the Brisbane underground hard rock scene in 2001 with their debut self-titled EP which instantly gained recognition on national youth radio network, Triple J. Self-financed, produced by ARIA nominated engineer Dave Leonard and released through his local independent label Modern Music the EP soon became highly in demand across Australia.
In January 2002 the band was invited to perform at the local Big Day Out and to capitalise on the momentum a national tour was booked to supply the growing demand for the band.
