Kelly Clarkson Was Hesitant About Writing For One Direction

15 June 2012

It has been revealed this week that Kelly Clarkson refused to write songs for One Direction originally, until she'd heard the boy band and made sure she liked their style!

The American Idol winner is allegedly "very particular" about who records her music, and rightly so!

Kelly reportedly told Simon Cowell, who manages One Direction, that she wouldn't give the group any material unless she was impressed with their voices.

She revealed to Britain's Daily Star this week: "Giving away my songs is not something I do lightly. I'm very particular about that because my songs are like my babies. If I wanted it done I can sing it myself. I'm such a writer's snob."

"People have asked for songs and I'm like, 'I can't stand their voice, they're not singing my song.' When Simon Cowell put me forward to write for One Direction I said, 'Let me hear them first.'"

Kelly was eventually won over by the pop sensations and agreed to let them include Tell Me A Lie on their debut album Up All Night.

Are you glad Kelly gave her song to 1D in the end?
