Raised in Perth, Western Australia, Cristian's early years were spent honing his craft by listening to classic R&B from the likes of Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye who first provided him with the inspiration to create his own music.
"I tried to write a lot when I was younger but I wasn't really that good", he says with a laugh. "I hadn't really been through anything you know so as I got older I had more stuff to write about. The more I got screwed over the more I found I had something to say. I've been hurt before; I've been down so just having something like that to write about makes you feel something. Like anything it comes from experience". A less than satisfying 3-year tenure with a major label provided him with plenty of experiences to draw from when creating his debut album "Cristyle".
Featuring an international cast of some of the biggest names in R&B and hip-hop Cristyle showed the Australian Music Industry and in particular the Urban music scene, the calibre of talent he can draw. The Ignorants/Intrusion (Craig David, Mis-Teeq, K-Ci & JoJo et al), Blacksmith (who have produced Eric B & Rakim to Lemar), Passion (who worked on the debut album for singer/songwriter Audius), Soul Districts Revelino and newcomer Monius all feature heavily.
A leader, rather than a follower, Cristian's debut album "Cristyle" was the work of a young man destined to make his mark in the world of urban music, not just relevant to Australia, but on an international scale. At a time when the industry is dominated by corporate creations looking for that quick hit and 1 hit wonder, Cristian Alexanda defied the odds and created an album full of party jams, club bangers and soulful ballads. With such a well received and highly regarded album amongst critics and fans, CA's debut is just a glimpse of what he's about to bring. "I love to make people dance so I had that on Cristyle, you should see what I got on the new album". He laughs.
In 2004 Cristian's SMASH singles "Misunderstood" and "Party Anthem" both went gold selling 35,000 copies each and his bangin' Album "Cristyle" also well received by critics & fans alike. 2004 also saw Cristian Alexanda support international Hip Hop sensation 50 Cent with G Unit and also Justin Timberlake on their national Australian tour.
After a well deserved break, Cristian spent most of 2006 writing, producing beats, changing management and preppin' collaborations for his highly anticipated follow up album.
In 2007 Cristian signed with Urban Sounds Entertainment and Central Station Records and flew over to New York to work with some of the biggest names in the business; Ja Rule and Fabolous.
