Lily Cancels US Tour

Lily Cancels US Tour

17 April 2007

Lily Allen has announced she will postpone the rest of her US tour to work on her new album.

Homesick Lily claims that she wants instead to begin work on her new album, though there have been reports - and Lily herself has said, that she is exhausted as attempting to crack the US market is boring!

A spokesman for Allen said that she's been "writing new material whilst on the road in the US and wants to capture these new songs in the studio."

Lily posted a statement on her website saying that "I have been on tour with this album for a year now.... I am tired, but more than that I don't think I have been giving my best performances recently."

"I want to give my best to every audience I play to," Allen says. "But, at the same time, I am itching to get back in the studio to start recording these great new songs, to keep things fresh for the audience and for myself."

At the beginning of her statement Lily joked that the reason for the cancellation was because "my mummy and daddy are very rich, and I have never been in a position where I have actually had to do any hard work before. I thought that being a popstar meant going out getting trashed with famous people and sleeping in all day. The fact that this is not true has come as a huge disappointment to me, and as a result I am throwing the towel in."

And just in case any speculation arises, Lily has quashed possible rumours. "I am not falling apart at the seams, I am not suffering with exhaustion, I am not pregnant, and I am not going to rehab!"

Lily said she will remain in the US to write for her second album, and continue to promote her first album 'Alright Still', and will still be playing at festivals scheduled, including Coachella and Bonaroo.
