TAKE 40 EXCLUSIVE
Black Eyed Peas rapper Will.I.Am releases his new album Songs About Girls this month. Take 40 caught up with Will in London recently.
The talented rapper/producer, who has previously worked on music for the likes of Justin Timberlake, Macy Gray, Kelis, Sting and The Game as well as his production input on the B.E.P.s and Fergies albums has created a new collection of songs that are sure to hit the charts in the coming months.
It differs from the Black Eyed Peas because theres a lot of electro-house and dance, fused with hip hop, Will.I.Am explains. The only time we really kinda did that with Black-Eyed Peas was on Shut Up and The Boogie That Be. This time around theres a theme its a complete thought where Im writing about my ex-girlfriend and the ups and downs in our relationship. I was with her for eight years, we broke up four years ago, and so its a concept record about what I went through.
The first single I Got It From My Mama doesnt really describe what the record is about as a whole, but its a great bridge between the Black Eyed Peas and my solo work. Its a beautiful album and Im really proud of it.
