ARIA Nominees Announced!

The nominees for the 2007 ARIA Awards were announced at a ceremony in Sydney this morning, with Silverchair, Powderfinger, and Sneaky Sound System set to take the cake.

Both Silverchair and Powderfinger received 6 nominations, including two for artisan awards for video production and album cover artwork. The artisan winners were announced in today's ceremony as a prelude to the official October event, with Silverchair picking up Best Video and Powderfinger Best Cover Art.

Sydney dance outfit Sneaky Sound System scooped the most total nominations - they're up for six awards, after missing out on their two artisan categories of Best Video and Engineer of the Year.

The John Butler Trio deserve an honorable mention, they're nominated for 5 awards including the competitive Album and Single of the Year.

The 2007 ARIAs will take place at Sydney's Acer Arena on Sunday, October 28. Performing on the night will be, among others, Silverchair, Powderfinger, Sneaky Sound System, Missy Higgins, and John Butler Trio.
