Avril Lavigne Copyright Case Settled

11 January 2008

Avril can breathe easy after the copyright case against her has been settled out of court.

Recently, 70's group the Rubinoos took out a lawsuit against Lavigne, claiming that her hit 'Girlfriend' was a rip off of their single 'I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend'.

Avril consistently claimed she had never heard the song, and a music expert consulted by her legal team claimed that the two songs sound nothing alike.

Avril's manager Terry McBride has said he is happy to consider the out of court settlement to avoid an expensive and lengthy legal battle, regardless of whether Avril is in the wrong or not.
