Akon to Design New Perfumes

R&B singer Akon is joining the throng of entrepreneurial celebrities in the perfume industry - he's launching two new fragrances later this year (09).

The Smack That hitmaker recently formed Konvict Cosmetics, and he is planning to launch Konvicted, a scent aimed at younger consumers, and Aliaune, titled after his real name and marketed to more mature customers.

The news comes shortly after Akon announced the expansion of his clothing line, Konvict & Aliaune Clothing, which will now also be made available for fans in Africa.

Other stars including Sean 'Diddy' Combs, Jennifer Lopez and Britney Spears have also made names for themselves in the fragrance market.
