Coldplay are defending their music again. After recently settling a copyright dispute over their single 'Viva La Vida', singer/songwriter Andy J. Gallagher is now accusing one of the world's biggest bands of ripping off his music video.
VIDEO: Coldplay - Viva La Vida
Gallagher claims Coldplay's 'Strawberry Swing' video, which features animation and chalk drawings, bears many similarities to his music video 'Something Else' which was released last year.
The singer recently spoke to CMU Music, "While I can't say they copied me, there are an awful lot of similarities between my video and theirs. I think it's unfair that 'Strawberry Swing' will probably be nominated for numerous awards and is being universally-acclaimed as groundbreaking, when (Something Else director) Owen Trevor had virtually the same idea at least a year before."
What do you think? Check out Coldplay's Strawberry Swing, and then have a look at Gallgher's efforts.
Seems it's not just Gallagher jumping on the plagiarism blame bandwagon, pop legend Yusuf Islam aka Cat Stevens has also named the UK foursome copy cats. He believes that 'Viva La Vida' borrows directly from his song 'Foreigner Suite'.
Just as well the lads are so cashed up, looks like they're going to need some hot shot lawyers to get them out of this saga!
