Joel Madden Sets The Nicole Richie Marriage Rumour Straight

As the Good Charlotte brothers Jet over for a visit to Australia this week, singer Joel Madden has been busy quashing rumours that he and Girlfriend Nicole Richie recently got married in a secret ceremony.

Gossip sites and magazines were rife with the rumour that the pair had wed in secret last week, so when take40.com spoke to Joel on Friday we asked HIM to set the record straight.

"No we didn't. We're not married," Joel tells take40.com. "How many times could they write that?!" he laughed. "We usually don't Say Anything coz it's like 'ok, that's the last time, they're not gonna write it again'"

"I don't even know where it came from!"

Joel said the rumours are a bit annoying for his friends and family.

"You know what's weird is I got all these emails yesterday... I was getting all these emails and phone calls from my old friends and family... and I was like 'What's going on?'"

"And then my friend sent me a thing and told me..." Madden continues. "I felt bad coz I felt like my family thought that I went and did something... and I was like 'No, don't worry, if I did you'd know.'"

Benji and Joel are in Australia this week to mentor the remaining Australian Idol contestants and sit as guest judges on the panel this weekend for 'Noughties' week.

Both the Madden boys have hinted on their Twitter page over the weekend that they could be bringing the band along for a surprise concert in Melbourne and Sydney during their visit! Stay tuned for more info!
