Twilight hunk Taylor Lautner has scored a new movie role -- he's set to play action hero 'Stretch Armstrong' in an upcoming Hollywood blockbuster.

Taylor's Stretch Armstrong movie will be developed using 3D technology (think Avatar) and is likely to hit our movie screens later this year.

Universal Pictures are stoked to have Taylor onboard.

"In the past two years, Taylor has emerged as a real star at the global box office," reps said.

"He brings the perfect balance of energy and athleticism to the role of an unlikely super hero with a fantastic super power. We couldn't be more pleased that he as agreed to be our Stretch."

You might recall the Stretch Armstrong character as a toy action figure from years ago that was filled with gel or corn-syrup and claimed to be unbreakable no matter how far you stretched it! Kids around the world had fun pulling Stretch Armstrong's arms and legs in every direction! See the pic below.

The buffed up 17-year-old was also recently confirmed to play Max Steel, a sports star turned secret agent in another film.

Looks like all that working out has really paid off for Taylor!
