Australians are absolutely obsessed with The Script. Currently touring the country in support of their last record 'Science And Faith', last night they played an incredible show to a sold out Melbourne crowd.
One thing you do notice at a Script show is how many people were there on dates. Somehow they've become "THAT band that you take your girlfriend/boyfriend too in exchange for brownie points and the possibility of getting some action later in the evening". Everyone in the crowd was hugging their better half. Except myself. I've been single for far too long.
What's also interesting about this band is I'd actually forgotten how many genuine hits they've had. Seeing a Script show is a total hit parade. There was a serious amount of crowd sing-along-long-longing going on last night... the first example of such was during what is my favourite Script song 'We Cry' (Yes I have a fave Script song... so sue me). It's a little bit funky. A little bit sexy. Awesome.
There were some quieter moments to this show too... a heartwarming rendition of 'The Man Who Can't Be Moved' was quite excellent... meanwhile newer songs like 'You Won't Feel A Thing' and 'For The First Time' really seemed to cut through.
However, everyone was in anticipation for one song... the song that elevated this small group of Irish lads into the same league as Pink. Breakeven. Rapturous applause, tears and shrieks coming from everywhere. Danny O'Donoghue (also known as the lankiest singer in rock) was freaking out. That's right, even he could not believe how excitable this Melbourne crowd was.

A fantastic show was put on tonight... and the fact that they've already announced another Australian Tour (while actually in the country touring) fills my heart with Glee. Bring it on next time... to be sure, to be sure...
