Gwen Stefani has donated $1 million to aid the Japanese relief effort in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake and tsunami.
In a statement issued to UsMagazine.com, Gwen says, "I've been inspired by Japan for many years and have a true love, appreciation and respect for the Japanese people and their culture.
"The disaster in Japan is beyond heartbreaking, and I want to do anything I can to help. I would never be able to make a gesture like this without the love and support of all the fans over all these years."
The singer has also designed a limited edition T-shirt for her L.A.M.B. fashion label, with all proceeds benefiting the recovery efforts in Japan. The item will be unveiled on NoDoubt.com next week.
Other celebrities have also stepped up and donated to the relief effort. Sandra Bullock donated $1 million, while Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Snoop Dogg are raising cash by selling various accessories, clothing and merchandise.
