James Blunt Won't Be Performing At The Royal Wedding

James Blunt has confessed that he was joking when he told multiple interviewers he would play the organ at Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding, assuring fans that he will not be in attendance.

Many fans and media failed to spot the joke when the star talked about his preparations for the Royal Wedding at Westminster Abbey.

But James has now spoken out to clear up reports he'll be the wedding organist, telling Billboard.com, "Like every English or British musician being asked one silly question too often, I gave a silly answer - and then I went to my Wikipedia.com page and changed it to say 'classically trained church organist,' and 4,400 websites picked up on it.

"It was really funny. My publicist was really nervous but, you know, it's all in good humour. I imagine it's going to be a traditional wedding, and at most traditional weddings they don't have pop stars playing."

Funnily enough, James and groom-to-be Prince William both served in the British army's Household Cavalry, and the singer/songwriter did work closely with the royal household.

He adds, "That was my main job the last two years in the army. Whenever you'd see The Queen or a member of the royal family riding out in a kind of public environment, I was the guy who'd be riding beside them."
