Following the cancellation of Soundwave Revolution earlier this week, news has come to light that Aerosmith were the potential second headliner in question who caused the whole thing to come crashing down.
Veteran music journalist Nui Te Koha announced on radio that Aerosmith cancelling was only part of the reason for the festival being called off.
"The organisers were saying they were waiting for a number two headliner, but the fact of the matter was ticket sales were lagging," he explained.
He also said that headliners Van Halen have now cancelled their trip to Australia all together.
"There is no tour. The word from the band overnight to me is that there are no plans to tour Australia. So no Van Halen."
Despite this, organisers have maintained that there will still be various sideshows which they will be announcing soon.
Tickets purchased for Soundwave Revolution will be fully refunded by the place of purchase.
