ARIA Awards 2011 Nomination Predictions!

11 October 2011

We are so excited at the moment on Take 40 because ARIA Awards nominations for 2011 come out tomorrow!

A few weeks ago we gave you the scoop on which celebs who we've heard are rumoured to be appearing at the awards and now we want to take a look at who we think might collect a few of those pyramid shaped bounties come November 27th when the 25th ARIA Awards take place.

Our Predictions:

Single Of The Year: Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know Feat. Kimbra
Is there any point even debating this? We love Gotye. You love Gotye. This track has crossed over John Edwards style and become a pop and indie icon of 2011.

Breakthrough Artist: The Jezabels
A year ago no-one knew who these guys were, then their 2010 EP Dark Storm marked them as the next big thing. If you've heard their latest album Prisoner you know to believe the hype - these guys have an incredibly bright future in the Australian music scene!

Album Of The Year: Gypsy and The Cat - Gilgamesh
Gilgamesh is one those albums that has not only performed well overseas, but has also been a constant staple at bars pubs and clubs around the country for most of the year! It's a bit of a surprise prediction... but this could be the dark horse that no-one expected... except for Take 40 of course!

Best Group: Boy& Bear
One of the most refreshing, creative and original Australian acts we have seen in a long time, and their album has consistently done well in the ARIA charts!

Best Country Release:Kasey Chambers -- Storybook
Has Kasey Chambers ever NOT won an ARIA award? We haven't heard this album... but we know it'll at least get a nomination nod. Kasey is so loveable anyway we just hope she wins! Given that she gave birth this week we're guessing she won't have time to pay much attention to any nominations!

Make sure you stay tuned to tomorrow morning to hear the nominations as they are read out at Sydney's 25th ARIA Awards Nomination Party!

For now though, get in the mood for the awards by listening to our Aussie made playlist below!

Ash London

Ash London brings volume and energy to Australia’s only official countdown alongside co-host Angus O’Loughlin on Take 40.

Ash has had some awesome music and artist encounters, listing some of her favourite memories including the world’s most awkward piggy back from Ed Sheeran. She is known for relating to all music talent and just by being her fun, laidback, quirky self. Even 5 Seconds of Summer has asked her to join their band!

Angus O'Loughlin

Angus, brings the charm and tongue-in-cheek flavour to the countries only official countdown – Take 40 with co-host Ash London.

He hangs his hat on doing "real" interviews where he is not afraid to explore anything and everything about the person sitting across from him.

Angus’s passion for music, creative spontaneity and boy-meets-world curiosity sees him as a favourite with the industry, fans, and artists alike; a guy who is just living his dream… and getting paid for it!
