Academy Awards 2012 Best And Worst Dressed List - Photos Here!

27 February 2012

Well the red carpet is just wrapping up at the Academy Awards in Los Angeles today, and the toast of Hollywood definitely pushed the fashion stakes high with their glamorous gowns!

Check out all the action from the Oscar's red carpet!

As always there were some hits and misses throughout the pre-party, but we have to say overall everyone did pretty well keeping it classy!

Don't worry though, we definitely found a few snore-fests to keep you entertained!

So let's get to it shall we?

Best Dressed

Jessica Chastain

Jessica Chastain looked stunning in this Alexander McQueen dress with Harry Winston jewels! We love that she was daring enough to try wearing such a bold print, and she got extra cute points for bringing her nanna as her Oscar's date!

Michelle Williams

31 year old Michelle looked glowing in this coral floor length gown. The actress accessorised her look with Christian Louboutin shoes, a Bottega Venetta bag and her signature pixie haircut!

Gwenyth Paltrow

We admire anyone who is brave enough to wear a cape on the red carpet! 39 year old Gwenyth looked completely chic in this unique and elegant look!

Sacha Baron Cohen

Sacha Baron Cohen's outfit definitely got points for creativity... after seeing gown after gown it's refreshing to see people having a bit of fun. Sacha's definitely going to be remembered more for pouring ash over interviewer Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet, rather than his military attire though!

Natalie Portman

We adored seeing Natalie Portman in this vintage style Dior Haute Couture dress from Rare Vintage (1954 collection). Completely unique on the red carpet, but sophisticated enough to give the Oscars the respect they deserve. She's always our red carpet go-to girl.

Rooney Mara

Rooney Mara is totally going to be the IT girl of 2012. She looks stunning in Givenchy on the Oscars red carpet, and it's good to see her toy with white instead of her usual darker shades.

Worst Dressed

Melissa McCarthy

Aww it saddens us to put MC in the worst dressed category, but this frumpy gown ain't doing the 41 year old any favours. The Bridesmaids actress wore a custom pink Marina Rinaldi dress, and just wasn't as flattering as it could have been. Maybe it was the renaissance style sleeves we were so opposed to!

Shailene Woodley

Shailene Woodley's gown is way too old for such a gorgeous 20 year old gal! While her hair and make-up is beautiful, we wish she'd made her outfit a bit more fun!

Anna Faris

Unfortunately Anna Faris stooped to getting her dress from the back of Liza Minelli's wardrobe this year, and we weren't very impressed. The 35-year-old actress (wearing Diane von Furstenberg) also sported a wacky bob haircut to match her cabaret style sequinned dress.

Emma Stone

The normally stylish Emma Stone looked a bit too much like a gift at this year's Oscars. The 23-year-old actress wore a bright red Giambattista Valli Haute Couture dress, with red hair on a red carpet. Boo.

Penelope Cruz

Penelope wore a custom Giorgio Armani organza evening gown with off-the-shoulder straps and a fitted bodice. Unfortunately she looked like one of the extras from Cinderella at the royal ball, and although it looks like something from a fairytale ending, we just couldn't give one to Penelope for this outfit. We didn't dig the colour either.

Sandra Bullock

We love Sandra Bullock, but this weird T-shirt over a long gown look didn't really float our boat. The top half really needed to be more fitted if it was to work in the red carpet environment.
