REVIEW: Taylor Swift Perth Concert, Speak Now Tour 01/03/12 - Enchanting In Every Way!

03 March 2012

Taylor Swift is your typical girl next door in every respect. Except this girl next door just so happens to have won 6 Grammy Awards, has millions of adoring fans world-wide and sure knows how to put on a concert. So it was no surprise she totally brought the house down in front of 16,000 fans at Perth's Burswood Dome last night.

This girl next door even manages to bring her friends on tour too. Supporting Taylor on her Speak Now tour were her home town friends and huge hit makers, Hot Chelle Rae, who amped up the crowd for the main event with a smoking hot set, culminating in a huge crowd sing along of their massive hit 'I Like It Like That.'

As the stage cleared and the crowd screamed for Taylor, trivia played on the large screens surrounding the audience.

Now we know you're dying to know if Taylor brings a big name on stage for a sing along but believe it or not she left out the famous faces and opted for an epic stage show filled with dancers, acrobats and fireworks. Are we complaining? No way!

An explosion of fireworks kicks off Taylor's set as the country pop star rises from beneath the stage to greet her fans in a glittering fringe dress. Taylor manages to look picture perfect, but edges it up with sayings written on her arms and hands in magic marker, the most notable being her lucky number 13, which she ritually paints on her hand before every show.

Taylor sparkles through 9 different outfit changes and charms the crowd with inspirational stories about songs, growing up and meeting the perfect boy. We're treated to flawless performances of Mean, Back To December, Speak Now, Belong To Me and Our Song.

And to show us her musical skills, Taylor plays a total of 5 different guitars throughout the night, two banjos, the ukulele and even the piano. How's that for talent!

This teen idol is renowned for getting up close and personal with her fans and she didn't dare disappoint the eager Perth crowd. Taylor's stage was fashioned with a square walkway allowing the singer to walk all around the arena giving even those in the furthest seats a close up view of Miss Swift. And believe us when we say the crowd completely lost it during this impromptu meet and greet with hundreds of fans rushing to get a close up glimpse of the star.

However this gig wasn't without a few glitches. At least nine people were taken away on hospital stretchers from the mosh pit over the course of the show.

The encore brings out the big guns with her hottest songs yet. Now we all know Taylor writes about her exes but did we expect to hear about one of them during her gig? No way! So when she announces her first encore song, Ours, is written about a 'guy with tattoos and a gap between his teeth' we know exactly who she's talking about... yep, John Mayer.

And what would a Taylor Swift gig be without her huge hit Love Story. This is a massive climax to an astounding show that had the crowd screaming for more as Taylor launched into an airborne balcony to sing her final farewell, an outstanding finish to an amazing show.

Taylor you've won Perth's heart ten times over.

I give this show 9 long blonde locks out of 10

The song is called 'Love Story', not 'Romeo and Juliet'
