Kylie Minogue Appearing At Sydney Harbour New Year's Eve 2012!

27 March 2012

Pop princess Kylie Minogue will be helping to spin Sydney's very own glitter ball on New Year's Eve this year!

Sydney's Lord Mayor Clover Moore announced this morning that Kylie has been appointed 'Creative Ambassador' for the 2012 event. Whatever that means.

Kylie says coming home to celebrate New Year's Eve in Sydney will be a dream come true.

"No matter where I am in the world, I always watch Sydney New Year's Eve fireworks and even though I'm from Melbourne I could not miss this opportunity to celebrate 25 years of performing at the New Year's Eve Capital of the World," Minogue said in a statement.

"So many things are happening for my 25th anniversary in music, but I can't think of a better finale for the K25 year than to be in Australia for the Sydney NYE celebrations."

Mayor Moore said Kylie will work with creative teams over the next nine months to ensure the 2012 event is unforgettable.

"With Kylie's input we will build on past successes of Sydney New Year's Eve, which attracts 1.5 million people to the harbour foreshore and contributes about $156 million to the local economy," she said in a statement.

The Lord Mayor said Kylie will help select the themes and colours for the night, which will be reflected in fireworks display at midnight.

A glittery, flamboyant fireworks display with Kylie's stamp of approval? Yes please!
