Eccentric band The Flaming Lips have revealed that they will be using the blood of some of the many artists that have contributed to their Record Store Day project in a limited-edition run of packaging.
The band states that some of the editions of 'The Flaming Lips And Heady Fwends' will contain the blood of a number of the release's collaborators- a list that includes Ke$ha, Nick Cave, Bon Iver and Erykah Badu.
Speaking to MTV Hive via Pitchfork, Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne said, "What I'm going to try to do - and I'm collecting stuff for it as we speak - is I'm going to try to make a record that has every person's blood in the record."
He added, "I don't have everybody's blood just yet, but I collected quite a few vials of blood and it's actually sitting in my refrigerator as we speak... I'm going to try to take that same concept and put little bits of everybody's blood in the middle of this record. Like a glass specimen thing."
According to Coyne, he has so far collected blood from Neon Indian, Prefuse 73 and Ke$ha.
He also added that only five or six blood discs will be made and would probably only be bought by "interested rich Flaming Lips people".
What do you guys think of this idea? Sick or cool?
