Dannii Minogue And Kris Smith Have Split

Dannii Minogue and Kris Smith are believed to have separated after four years together.

Due to work commitments this high profile couple have been leading increasingly distant lives in recent months, and are believed to have gone their separate ways two weeks ago.

The former UK rugby league player Kris has moved out of the couple's luxury home in Melbourne's eastern suburbs, while Dannii stays there.

Dannii and Kris started dating in August 2008 after meeting at a nightclub on the Spanish island of Ibiza.

They welcomed a son Ethan in Melbourne on July 5 of 2010.

An indication there was trouble came when Smith recently changed his Twitter profile to read: "It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice ... not really sure what my job is any more ... but I do know I love my boy more than life."

The couple have both also confirmed the news on Twitter today, with Dannii revealing in a series of posts: "It brings me great sadness to tell you that Kris & I have separated. We still care for each other & ask for privacy at this difficult time, in particular for our son Ethan who remains our number one priority. Needing to retreat for a while. Thank you for your ever loving continued support."

Kris added, "Dannii and I have a deep mutual love and respect for each other and although things have not worked out we have a gorgeous son together that we both love and implore everyone to respect our privacy at this challenging time."
