We've been loving Delta Goodrem's new song, 'Sitting On Top Of The World,' but this week critics are claiming that another band came up with the tune first!
Darren Cross, a former member of Australian electro act Gerling, claims on his blog that Delta "totally rips off Arcade Fire" in Sitting On Top Of The World.
The song he thinks sounds similar is called Rebellion (Lies) by the Canadian band, and while the track is lyrically very different, the chord progression does sound familiar.

The sameness stems from the piano riff base and chorus built around a similar vocal melody.
Delta co-wrote the song with American hitmaker and producer John Shanks.
Both the singer and her record label Sony have not yet responded to the claims.
Her fan site, DeltaDaily.com, has defended the claim with one fan posting: "As if Delta would've heard of this no-name band and 'ripped them off'. A chord is a chord ... no one can claim direct ownership to a chord."
We're not really sure that Arcade Fire can be called a 'no-name band' -- but we're sure Delta wouldn't have knowingly borrowed their chord structure.
Do you think they sound similar? Play them both below!
