Dave Grohl Set To Direct And Produce New Music Documentary

02 May 2012

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl is set to direct and produce a new documentary about the iconic California recording studio, Sound City Studios.

According to Variety magazine the new film, titled Sound City, will tell the story of the infamous studio in which Grohl's previous band Nirvana recorded their 1991 album 'Nevermind'.

Grohl is also the mastermind behind the concept of the documentary- which was inspired after Grohl bought the Neve 8029 recording console from the studio after they closed down for commercial use in May 2011.

On the film, Dave has said, "Sound City is a film about America's greatest unsung recording studio. Deep in California's sunburnt San Fernando Valley, it was the birthplace of legend. It was witness to history."

As well as Nirvana's infamous album, Sound City Studios has laid tracks for a host of famous bands including, Tom Petty, Guns N' Roses, Rage Against The Machine and Metallica.

Fleetwood Mac's 'Rumours' and 'Fleetwood Mac' were recorded there as well as Neil Young's 'After The Gold Rush.'

Pretty excited to see this historical musical doco! How about you?
