A very confident Jack Black has claimed that the latest Tenacious D offering, Rise Of The Fenix, is a better listen than the Foo Fighters, Tom Waits, Jack White and Gotye combined.
Speaking recently to Reuters, Black claimed, "I do love [Jack White's] Blunderbuss, I love the Foo, I love Tom Waits, his new record is incredible... and Gotye... but our album is better."
Jack also claimed that since the last Tenacious D album came out 6 years ago, rock has died.
He said, "Since we had our last album, rock and roll completely died. What killed it? Was it Axl Rose in the library with a wrench, or was it Lady Gaga in the pantry with the pliers? We don't know but we'll figure it out."
Jack added, "Thank God for the D, riding in on their white stallions to rescue rock and roll."
And Jack seriously believes with Rise Of The Fenix, he and bandmate Kyle Gass will become icons!
Black is adamant that their third album is, "in all seriousness, better than any album out there right now. In a hundred years' time, no one will remember Gotye or the rest, but the shinning beacon of The D- they're going to start religions after us."
We suspect Jack Black is having some fun... but what do you think? Is the D better than Gotye and The Foo Fighters?
