Ex Disney star Demi Lovato has revealed she was "relieved" when she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, because having an explanation for her behaviour made her feel less "crazy."
In 2010 Demi pulled out of her world tour with the Jonas Brothers and checked in to a rehab clinic after allegedly punching one of her back-up dancers.
She then spent three months seeking professional help for a number of issues including an eating disorder and self-harm.
Doctors eventually diagnosed Demi as manic-depressive, and the 19 year old has admitted she was grateful to hear there was a medical reason for the way she was acting.
She revealed to Cosmopolitan magazine, "I felt relieved when I found out, like, 'I'm not completely crazy; there's a medical reason for all of it'."
She added, "It's a daily thing; you don't get time off from it. And if I feel myself slipping back into old patterns, I have to ask others for help, which is hard for me to learn, because I really like doing everything on my own."
