REVIEW: Lady Gaga's Born This Way Ball Opens In Brisbane!

14 June 2012

The moment we've been counting down to for so long has arrived -- Lady Gaga has performed her first Australian Born This Way Ball!

The show in Brisbane last night saw Mother Monster stomping around a gothic castle and performing some of her greatest hits, in what was billed as an "electro-metal pop-opera."

To open the show, the singer is first marched out of her castle on a prop horse, only to moments later emerge in gold costume to perform the ultimate pop anthem Born This Way.

If you have tickets to the Monster Pit, you won't be disappointed. Lady Gaga constantly struts around that central area of the stage, giving her most hardcore fans plenty of attention!

In the costume department Gaga definitely didn't disappoint. There were countless unique and eccentric fashion pieces, all of which we wish we had the guts to pull off at home!

Last night she also did a victory lap across the stage with the Aussie flag, a real crowd pleaser.

A highlight of the show came with a reinvention of her infamous meat dress, and Lady Gaga tried to explain the idea behind it again:

"Did you ever feel like you were treated like a piece of meat?" Gaga asked the crowd, before sending a dancer into a prop meat grinder and cranking the handle.

Moments later she appeared sitting on a "meat" lounge and yelled something about grinding up her ex-lovers.

We didn't really understand, but because it was Lady Gaga, we didn't really need to.

Her 110-show world tour continues at Brisbane's Entertainment Centre tonight and on Saturday night before heading to Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

I went to the concert and it was AMAZING! Although I must say I was extremely disappointed with Ticketek or BNE or whoever arranges what ticket holders are allowed where. As we know there are 2 GA standing areas Front and Back - both of these areas paid the exact same price for tickets except the back area was not aware of where they would be standing as on ticketet is showed that their ticket number would be in the front section - which it was not - very dodgy and quite frankly a rip off as you couldn't see the stage for the amount of money that was paid.
