British rockers Muse have written the soundtrack to the London 2012 Summer Olympics next month, and released their amazing new song 'Survival' this morning!
Frontman Matt Bellamy said he was was inspired by the spirit of the Games when composing the new song, which has been chosen for use throughout important events at the iconic sporting event.
A statement on the band's website reads, "We are very excited to announce that a Muse song, Survival, has been selected by the London Olympic committee to be the main official song for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Matt wrote the song with the Olympics in mind. It's about total conviction and pure determination to win."
"The song will be played throughout the Games including when athletes enter the stadium, in the lead-up to the medal ceremony and also as the theme for all international TV coverage..."
"We are honoured that the Olympics have chosen our song to officially represent the London 2012 Olympic Games across the globe."
The song itself has all the epic anthemic rock qualities that we've come to love from Muse, as well as a full orchestral introduction which sets Survival up nicely.
The song is a little bit Queen, a little bit hair metal, but 100% Muse. We are a little bit in love.
Muse's big announcement comes just one month after the famous trio took part in the Olympic torch relay, carrying the famous flame through their hometown of Teignmouth.
