Lily Allen Logs Complaint With Twitter Over Racist Comments

11 July 2012

Officials from Britain's Ministry of Defence launched an investigation on Tuesday (10 July) after Lily Allen complained of alleged racist abuse from an apparent member of the U.K. Army.

Lily was allegedly subjected to cruel taunts via Twitter.com by a man going by the name of Harry Wilson, whose profile states his occupation as a member of the British Army, after he commented on false rumours which suggested Allen had adopted a child.

In a message to Allen on the social networking site, Wilson wrote, "All the best with your new family just seen you bought s**t I mean adopted a child from Africa. (sic)"

According to WENN Allen immediately notified the British Army, writing in a message which has now been removed, "Do you condone (these) racist comments? He needs disciplining."

Army officials are now looking into the source of the nasty messages, with a representative telling Britain's Metro newspaper, "Racism of any kind is completely unacceptable and the Army has a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of harassment and discrimination. We are aware of the alleged offensive comments and are investigating the matter. It would be inappropriate to comment further while this is ongoing."
