PHOTOS: Swimmer Leisel Jones Slammed For Being Too Fat To Compete At The Olympics!

Photos of swimmer Leisel Jones have surfaced online this afternoon, suggesting that the 26 year old might not be fit enough to compete at the Olympics next week!

While no media outlet has come right out and called Leisel overweight or fat, some unflattering photos of Leisel stretching have been placed next to articles that seem to suggest she is not as committed as she could be.

Fellow teammates are now slamming the outlets that have portrayed Leisel as not fit enough to compete at the London Olympics, which start this weekend, suggesting it might hurt her mentally going into the competition.

Olympic champion Giaan Rooney was quick to defend Leisel today, saying she should only be judged on her performance in the pool.

"I find it incredibly unfair and incredibly judgemental," she said. "What is it going to do for her state of mind seeing a photo and an article like this in the Australian papers when we're meant to be backing our athletes three days before the swimming starts in London?"

"Leisel's never put herself up there as the super-slim, incredibly cut athlete; she's never had that body shape and it's worked for her for the last 12 years, so why would be changing anything now?"

Her coach Michael Bohl hasn't done much to help the situation, commenting less than positively on her fitness, and saying "She's looking OK" coming into the games.

"She's definitely got her work cut out for her. I'm not going to say it's going to be easy for her at all... She's probably at the end of her swimming career," he added.
