Charlotte Dawson In Hospital After Being Bullied On Twitter

Charlotte Dawson has been admitted into hospital today, after receiving hundreds of threats on Twitter overnight.

A spokeswoman for Dawson's management said today: "She is in hospital and she is OK."

Although the exact reason for her admission is unclear, a St Vincent's Hospital spokesman also revealed said 46-year-old Dawson was in the hospital in Sydney's Darlinghurst and was expected to make a "full recovery".

"She has asked that her privacy be respected," he said. "She is sitting up in bed and she's in good hands."

Police were called to Charlotte's inner city Sydney residence early today.

Charlotte appeared on The Project last night to expose Twitter bullying she had received this week, sparked by some followers calling for her to "please go hang yourself."

The social media war started earlier this week, after Charlotte managed to expose on of her haters Tanya Heti, who has since been suspended from her mentoring job at Melbourne's Monash University after she was reported.

After Dawson's TV appearances last night, hundreds of tweeters converged to bully her again.

In over 100 messages of abuse, followers told the celebrity to "neck yourself you filthy s***" and "please put your face in a toaster".

Some offenders even sent images of dead bodies covered in blood and told asked Charlotte to "please hang yourself promptly."

After 2am today Charlotte posted on Twitter "Hope this ends the misery" and "You win x."
