The Shire Axed From Channel 10 - Final Show Announced!

On the same day that Jersey Shore has been cancelled forever, Australian version The Shire has been given its curtain call as well!

Network Ten has quietly announced the final date for the Cronulla based dramality, with Monday, September 10th set to be the final show.

The show, set in Sydney's Sutherland Shire, has been moved around different TV timeslots since it started (never a good start) and never really kicked goals in the rating department, so we shouldn't really be surprised it's getting cut.

After opening to a national audience of 941,000 in the capital cities, it has fallen hugely, and was watched by a mere 204,000 last Monday, ranking 55th for the evening.

Chief programming officer for Channel 10 (who has now left his job) David Mott, once revealed: "The Shire will be a show that captivates, amuses and, dare we say, astounds audiences. It's fun, it's feisty and it can't be stopped."
