LISTEN: Did One Direction Rip Off Of The Clash With Live While We're Young?

24 September 2012

One Direction’s new track Live While We’re Young has only been out a mere few days and already there are claims that the boys have copied the track off of another band!

One Direction’s record label Sony were forced to release Live While We’re Young early after the highly anticipated video clip for the track was leaked online.

And now the track is once again surrounded by controversy after some fans have noted that the opening cords of Live While We’re Young is very similar to the opening cords to The Clash’s 1981 hit Should I Stay Or Should I Go?

The issue seems to be the opening of both songs – with the guitar chords and strumming pattern at the start of One Direction’s track sounding uncomfortably similar to Should I Stay Or Should I Go.

A side note: For those of you that haven’t heard of (or were maybe not born yet!) The Clash were a seminal English punk rock band that formed in 1976.

Check out both tracks below and tell us what you think! Are the tracks similar? And if so do you think One Direction ripped off The Clash?
