Tonight’s episode of The X Factor Australia kicked off with the top 9 performing a medley of hits from The Sapphires soundtrack with talent contest alum Jessica Mauboy – in what we thought was their best collaborative performance yet!
When asked who they thought might make it into the bottom two tonight – Mel B said Angel, Guy went with the unpopular choice in The Collective, Nat Bass chose Carmelo and Ronan also felt that Angel might be singing for her life a second week in a row.

Labrinth then took to the stage to perform his smash hit Earthquake – with an amazing arrangement of a full choir and orchestra! Again it would have to be our favourite guest performances so far on the show… bar Pink of course!
Then it was on to the all-important results – with Fortunate and Carmelo both finding themselves in the bottom two!
Next up child prodigy Birdy took to the stage for a mesmerising performance of her cover of the Bon Iver track Skinny Love – made famous originally on The X Factor Australia stage by Bella Ferraro.
Then it was on to the bottom two contestants to perform for their lives – with Carmelo kicking things off with his version of Feeling Good – adding his beautiful tone to the track made famous by the likes of Michael Buble and Muse.

Fortunate then took to their stage with their usual level of exuberance for their rendition of Without You by David Guetta featuring Usher – sending the crowd into a spin over their vocal harmonies.
Then it was down to the judges to decide who would be sent home tonight – Ronan kicked things off by giving his vote to Carmelo, with Nat Bass following suit and adding a second vote. Mel B voted for Fortunate which brought the deciding vote down to Guy, who after some deliberation sent Carmelo home.
