Evanescence Didn't Plan On Success. . .

20 May 2003

Hot-to-trot young goth band Evanescence, have blown Australian audiences away with their debut track 'Bring Me To Life' which has taken over the number 1 spot on the Take 40 Singles chart!

But this hasn't always been the case. Lead singer Amy Lee, 20, revealed in a recent interview that the band didn't plan for success.

"Ben Moody (guitarist) and I started writing music together when we were very young - 13 and 14. We weren't trying really hard to get a record deal for a very long time," she said. "We'd play maybe two shows a year just for fun. We'd hire people for a show at a time. Basically, we'd make enough money to pay for the musicians we'd hire for the show. But we were just a studio band for a long time, just writing and recording."
