The Voice Australia Blind Auditions Night 4 -- Luke Kennedy Astounds The Judges With 'Butter' Voice!

10 April 2013

Last night’s episode of The Voice ended on high drama with the chairs refusing to turn around and singer Kathy Hinch left stranded!

So tonight’s episode picked off where last night’s left off with a bewildered Kathy learning that she had in fact turned the chairs of Joel Madden and Ricky Martin.

Her choice? Joel, because she believed he would steer her in the right musical direction.

Then The Voice offered up a surprise contestant - with 2012 runner up Darren Percival’s brother Glen taking to the stage to rock out his rendition of The Foo Fighters Times Like These.

Unfortunately he lacked the same magic that last year’s judges heard in his brother’s voice– with Delta calling his performance “fearless, but pitchy” and both Ricky and Seal questioning his song choice.

Then it was 18-year-old Melbournian Maya Weiss – who has music in her blood.

Singing Duffy’s Stepping Stone, Maya caught the ear of both Joel and Seal – with Joel trying to play to the heart saying that he is a “mumma’s boy” and loves working with female artists the best!

And it worked! With Maya choosing Joel because she believes that he wanted her more than Seal.

Next up a very brave Tim Morrison decided to take on one of the big men of rock – performing U2’s Sunday Bloody Sunday.

Heralding from a band and gigging for many years – Tim managed to turn the chairs of both Delta and Seal (at the very last minute).

He decides to go with the ‘nurturing, loving’ mentor style of Delta Goodrem.

Despite the initial reaction from the crowd and the judges to Michelle Cashman’s skin tinging performance of Wicked Games – she didn’t manage to turn any chairs, which Delta put down to not enough ‘diversity’ in her voice.

Sassy Jessica Samarges was up next with her rendition of Stacie Orrico’s Stuck – which attracted Delta, Joel and Seal.

Joel once again put on the smooth word – wooing Jessica by complimenting her looks and telling her that she “sounds hot when she sings”.

Even Stacie Orrico is a fan, tweeting, “I’m definitely on Team @JessikaSamarges! Her performance of "Stuck" was amazing- congrats to @JoelMadden! #TheVoiceAu

Next up brother and sister Chris and Kim Sheehy prepared themselves to go head to head in audition, with Kim failing to impress.

After some more awkward chair dancing from Delta –Chris managed to turn not one but three chairs, finally deciding on Joel after some high praise from soul-man Seal.

Julianne Di Sisto packed a massive punch with her voice in her rendition of Good Luck – managing to turn on Ricky Martin, who also turned his chair for her!

Once a part of The 10 Tenors - Luke Kennedy was the last contestant to take to the stage and had all four judges give him standing ovations with Seal bowing down to his powerful voice.

Ricky called his voice “breathtaking”, Seal labelled it a “stellar performance” and Joel said that his voice “is like butter, spread it on anything and it tastes good”.

After much grandstanding and emotional appeals – Luke finally decided to go with Ricky, who was literally jumping out of his skin with excitement at his get!

Who was your favourite tonight?
