Cast Of INXS Mini Series Never Tear Us Apart Revealed!

23 June 2013

The cast of the upcoming miniseries based on the rise of iconic Australian band INXS called Never Tear Us Apart has been announced – and it contains an assortment of the brightest young stars Australia has to offer!

The Shine production is set to debut on channel Seven later this year – and has the approval of the existing band members, some of which are consultants on the set.

And now it has been revealed that Packed To The Rafters star Hugh Sheridan will be playing bassist Garry Gary Bears with Winners & Losers actor Luke Arnold as enigmatic lead singer Michael Hutchence thanks to his uncanny likeness.

INXS Break Up After 35 Years Together

Alex Williams, who came to public attention thanks to his turn as Julian Assange in Underground: The Julian Assange Story, is set to take on Kirk Pengilly. Newcomer + NIDA graduate Nicholas Masters will play Tim Farriss, Ido Drent from Offspring is Jon Farriss while Andy Ryan is Andy Farriss.

Love My Way’s Damon Herriman is taking on the role of the bands manager CM Murphy.

The series claims to be an authentic look behind the scenes of the band’s rise to fame through the 80’s – apparently paying particular attention to Hutchance’s spiral into depression following a motorcycle crash in Thailand.

INXS band member Tim Farriss has been involved with pre-production and says it's been an emotional time – stirring up memories of Hutchence, who died in 1997.

"I've been spending a lot of time with the cast and I'm amazed," Farriss said. "At times I actually thought Michael was there. It has been all forms of emotions for me - I'm very excited."
